Recorded 25 January 2020 – Bogotá, Colombia

Lina and I sit down to discuss what this series is all about, why I decided to move to Colombia and how I ended up still here almost three years later, and what it was like for her growing up here in the turbulent 1990s and 2000s.

Her family is from the central Colombian department of Huila, which experienced a lot of problems with guerrillas, paramilitaries, narcotraffickers and other militant groups when she was just a child. After her father was carjacked and the family experienced other threats, they ended up selling their house and finca and moving to Bogotá, where Lina spent most of her adolescence and adult years and where we live now.
